The challenge

In 2008, against a background of extreme economic turbulence, Lloyds TSB and Halifax Bank of Scotland began to integrate their businesses. Bringing together five business divisions, 6,000 high street branches and 30 million customers to create one single way of doing things right across the new Group would add up to Europe's biggest financial services integration.

Were asked to help the Group communicate this enormous and challenging change programme in a simple and meaningful way, so all colleagues could understand what was happening and the part they would play.

We developed visual tools to help employees build their own integration picture and celebrate their achievements, working in close partnership with stakeholders across the Group.

The results

The campaign website had 22,000 hits on launch day, growing to 47,000 over the first week. Colleagues spent time on the website, exploring and reading all sections. Line Managers engaged with the tools and downloaded them for use in their business areas. We received outstanding feedback from the leadership team as well as from employees themselves.
