Wish upon a star
InterContinental Hotel Group replaced their prestigious annual award
ceremony with DIY on-line toolkits so managers could host their own
local events at virtually no cost to the company. The recognition communications
explained the need to do things slightly differently given the current
economic climate.
A star is born
The campaign re-launch was kicked-off by a series of emails and posters.
On-line toolkits were provided for the hotel managers, so they could
host their own local award ceremonies at virtually no cost to the company.
Amongst other things the toolkits included:
- A cheat sheet with tips on how to run a local recognition event
- A PowerPoint presentation which could be tailored
- Blank award certificates
- Posters that could be downloaded and printed out
- A suggested i-tunes play list
All winners' stories were promoted on a Star Gazing website. They
were also invited to make a short film about why they had won their
award which was hosted on a branded YouTube page we created for the
campaign.
And the winner is...
The client saved money. Employees had fun hosting their own local events
and still felt recognised for their hard work. The whole campaign was
designed and delivered in three months.
