Can an EVP transform a culture in crisis?

NAV Canada’s team of 4,000 employees across 100+ sites, exist to keep Canada’s skies safe. But when COVID hit, both external and internal challenges grew, forcing them to ask: How do we move forward as a united team? …Welcome Home.
The Challenge
Culture. In crisis – trust was fundamentally broken.
Talent. Reruit 500 new Air Traffic Control into their intense three-year program.
Our solution? Listen. We asked ‘What kind of NAV Canada do we want to be? How do we move forward together?”
A commitment to culture
In Year 1, we started a movement through our three-part strategy:
1. Building cultural unity through an EVP
2. Developing leaders of the future
3. Creating an authentic employer brand
Six months in, positive sentiment has increased on every measure in their employee survey. The EVP reconnected employees with purpose, while innovative leadership training drove a 12% increase in employee engagement scores related to leaders. Our employer brand strategy is driving changes across the recruitment experience, including introducing paid expenses for extensive face to face assesments and bringing forward onboarding buddy support to build.
The cultural shift is already showing big results. For some the skies the limit. At NAV CANADA it’s just the start…
