Internal Communications Audit
UK Sport are the power behind our greatest athletes, teams, and events.
With the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon, UK Sport set their sights on transforming internal communications to match their gold-standard ambitions.
Together, we embarked on a multi-year journey to create a vibrant, people-first internal communications strategy that would build pride in the organisation, strengthen communication channels, and develop and launch an intranet.
So, we dived right in taking a triathlon approach to listening – using a blend of focus groups, one-on-one interviews, and an online survey – to understand what was working, and what needed work. And more than 75% of the organisation participated in the research, including people in the office, at home, or out in the field, right up to the CEO.
The insights gave us an honest insight into the challenges and opportunities for internal communications and enabled us to design a strategy that was shaped by people, for people.
And the results?
- Through compelling stories, pride in UK Sport grew by over 40%.
- More than 80% of people ranked the new intranet as the most useful communication tool, with nearly two-thirds of them using it daily.
- The relevance of communications increased by 33%.
- The timeliness of communications increased by 27%.
- The quality of communications increased by 25%.
But the journey doesn’t end here. UK Sport remains committed to keeping its internal communications at podium-topping levels and we helped uncover even more insights that would shape brighter strategy for 2024/25, ensuring they remain as innovative and inspiring as the athletes they support.
